Jos Koenders
What do you do if you fall in love with a house that’s showing signs of subsidence? You ring URETEK to ask whether the problem can be fixed. That was certainly the case with a listed villa in Veghel. Thanks to the URETEK DeepInjection® method, a couple were able to buy the property with complete peace of mind.
“We’d set our sights on a listed town villa dating from 1933,” says Jos Koenders. “But the rear and front of the property had subsided, so we really wanted to know if this could be sorted out before we bought it. That’s why we first had a foundation survey carried out and then asked URETEK for advice.”
A great solution
“In the 1980s, part of the house had been stabilised with an extension, but that still didn’t make us feel safe,” explains Jos Koenders. “Fortunately, a foundation expert and the URETEK consultant both confirmed that the URETEK method could be applied perfectly here. So we bought the house and applied for planning permission for the work. A brilliant solution!”
A little bonus
“Whilst the URETEK team were working, we could hear the house creaking and groaning. The staff were constantly walking back and forth to check everything. They were very friendly, gave clear explanations and really know what they’re doing – that inspires confidence. At first, the house rose, but shortly afterwards it sank again. It took a while for the ground to become truly stable, but it worked out. The lifting process actually went better than expected. A nice bonus, because my main concern was having a stable foundation. You can clearly see that it’s made a difference; it definitely gives us a sense of security.”
