Subsidence and cracks caused by earthquakes
For no less than 16 years, Klaas Groen had to put up with subsidence and cracks in his house. Thanks to the URETEK FloorLift® method, everything was back in perfect alignment within two days.
“I’ve been living in Garrelsweer, right at the heart of the Groningen gas field, since 1978,” says Klaas Groen. “Since then, there have been several earthquakes, with nasty consequences for my house. It was leaning by about 5.8 cm and the walls were full of cracks, up to 5 cm wide. Fortunately, this house stands on a concrete foundation slab, so the URETEK method could be used.”
Neatly straightened
“I was keen to see how this worked,” continues Klaas Groen. “The URETEK team backfilled the foundations and neatly straightened the house again; that was quite something. It’s incredibly strong stuff that goes into the ground: lifting the house by 5.8 cm was a piece of cake. And we’re talking about around 120 m². Wonderful to see!”
Extremely satisfied
“I’m absolutely delighted with the result. All the cracks have been sealed and the house is still sitting perfectly in place. A fantastic solution that I’m really pleased with! In the spring, everything inside will be tidied up and finished off, and then it’ll be just as it used to be.”
