The URETEK method stabilises the subsoil
Settlement cracks had developed in the walls of a house with a basement in Heiligerlee, probably as a result of a falling groundwater level. Thanks to the URETEK DeepInjection® method, the ground beneath the foundations has been stabilised and the load-bearing capacity of the foundations restored.
Peter Bakhuijzen, owner of P.C.B. Timmerwerken in Scheemda, explains: “The homeowner asked me for advice about the cracks in the façades. He also mentioned that the house had been shaking and creaking for some time due to passing (heavy) traffic. So it was time to take action! As the house is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden with a terrace, we didn’t want to use traditional techniques: that would have meant all sorts of excavation work, which would have ruined the entire terrace and garden. Fortunately, I remembered a leaflet from URETEK, and decided to ask them for a sound solution. This came in the form of the URETEK DeepInjection method.”
Solid stuff
“The team at URETEK sorted the problem out brilliantly. It was the first time I’d called on URETEK, and it went very smoothly. Holes were drilled through the foundations in the cellar to inject the expansion resin into the ground. I’d seen the resin in action beforehand: it’s really solid stuff, so I had every confidence in it.”
Less vibration
The work was completed in two and a half days and the house was stable again. “You could tell straight away from the significant reduction in vibration,” says Peter Bakhuijzen. “A nice added bonus, which the homeowner is naturally very pleased with. We’re both very satisfied with the result. If I come across a similar situation again, I’ll definitely call on URETEK. The work is done quickly and there’s no mess left behind. Ideal.”
