Homeowner Karin Mensink:
A subsided foundation at a house in Agelo caused cracks in the internal and external walls. The homeowners were worried that part of the house would have to be demolished and rebuilt, but Steggink Construction came up with a better solution: the URETEK DeepInjection® method.
The Mensink family – the owners of the house – asked the contractor for advice. After excavation work, a leak in the rainwater drainage system beneath the house was found to be the cause. The water had washed away part of the underlying layer of sand, causing the house to subside.
Contractor recommends URETEK
“The cracks had become quite significant by then, and I was worried that part of the house would have to be demolished and rebuilt,” says Karin Mensink. “Fortunately, the contractor came up with a better idea: he told us he’d had good experiences with URETEK and showed us a video of how they work. It looked promising: we were keen to go ahead with it.”
Inside, everything could stay in place
“We were very pleased that the problem could be solved relatively easily,” Karin Mensink continues. “I thought they’d be putting large pipes into the ground, but they turned out to be thin tubes. I hadn’t expected it to be so easy, quick and tidy. Within a day, our house had been raised by 11 mm, without any mess. And everything in the house could just stay where it was! The cracks inside have now been repaired and the external walls have been partially repointed. It all looks neat again and we’re glad the house is stable once more – that gives us a sense of security. I’d recommend it to anyone!”
