Poor soil or a faulty sewer?
The floor of a house in Sprundel had subsided by a few centimetres. The subsidence was probably caused by a faulty sewer. URETEK was called in to rectify the problem, but they were unable to do so in one go.
“The living room floor had subsided significantly,” explains Mr van Endhoven, the owner of the property in question. “I called in the builder, who arranged for URETEK to come and sort out the problem. The URETEK staff explained clearly what they were going to do; the process of raising the floor went quite quickly, and I assumed the problem had been sorted. Unfortunately, the floor subsided again afterwards.”
Lifting again
“We thought this was down to poor subsoil, as several people in the neighbourhood were experiencing the same problem,” continues van Endhoven. “But when URETEK carried out the lifting work, it produced the desired result straight away. We eventually discovered that the sewerage system under our house was broken, which had caused a lot of sand to be washed away. We had the sewerage system replaced and URETEK came back to lift the floor again.”
Reasonable price
URETEK also found it a very unpleasant situation and, as a gesture of goodwill, offered a very reasonable price for the final lifting operation. “A lovely gesture, and we came to a good agreement together. I’m assuming that the broken sewer pipe was the real culprit and that the problems are now sorted!”
