Weekend emergency repair following a serious rail accident
Following a serious rail accident in Wouw, the damage was so extensive that rail services came to a standstill. Thanks in part to the URETEK method, the repairs went very smoothly and trains were even able to resume services earlier than planned. A great project, which we were delighted to carry out!
In the rail accident, an NS Intercity train collided with a flatbed lorry shortly before 7.00 am. The damage was extensive. Among other things, two 6 by 2.5-metre slabs had subsided by approximately 10 mm. That same Friday at 17:00, URETEK received a request to assist with the repairs.
Precision work
We immediately made all the necessary preparations so that we could start lifting these 580 mm-thick slabs at 7:00 the following morning. Precision work, as even the slightest differences in height can have negative consequences for the trains themselves and their speed. Thanks to meticulous work, the slabs were quickly restored to the correct height.
Working day and night
Coen van Kranenburg, spokesperson for ProRail: “Various parties – including URETEK – have been working day and night to repair the track at Wouw. By all working hard together, the track was ready sooner than expected. Our thanks go to everyone who made this possible!”
