Successful pilot project in Hoogkarspel
“Can URETEK straighten out two subsided concrete foundations alongside the railway line?” We received this enquiry from railway contractor VolkerRail. We have extensive experience carrying out work on and alongside railway lines, but we had never undertaken this particular task before. We were therefore keen to give it a go. That is why we offered to carry out this work as a pilot project. And what did we find? The URETEK FloorLift method is also particularly well-suited to this task!
The project involved two subsided concrete foundations alongside the railway line in Hoogkarspel. These foundations support the poles for the trains’ power cables. URETEK was given one night to lift these foundations. To this end, train services were suspended that night and the systems were temporarily taken out of service.
No preparatory work possible
As the poles are situated very close to the railway line, no preparatory work was possible. We were therefore only able to assess the situation on site on the night in question. It was touch and go as to whether we could complete the job in a single night and deliver the desired result. Naturally, we prepared as thoroughly as possible, confident that we would succeed. And so we did!
Raised by 11 and 14 cm
Tom Werkhoven, project manager at VolkerRail: “The work carried out by URETEK went exceptionally well; the job was completed within four hours. One foundation was raised by 11 cm, the other by 14 centimetres. They are both completely straight again. A great result!”
