The tiled showroom floor at the Renault garage in Lelystad began to show cracks, caused by subsidence. URETEK was called in to resolve the problem, but unexpectedly encountered a second difficulty. Fortunately, both issues could be resolved using the URETEK FloorLift® method.
When Hans Mafait, the owner of the premises, heard that the showroom floor was starting to subside, he rang URETEK. “I was already familiar with this company from a previous job at a property I manage,” he explains. “There, the floor of a workshop was raised, and I was very pleased with the result. So when this problem arose, URETEK immediately sprang to mind.”
A new challenge
“The garage is open six days a week and it takes a long time to clear the entire showroom. Fortunately, it was no problem for URETEK to carry out the work on a Sunday. It’s great that this is possible! The staff are motivated and very practical, so the work went incredibly quickly. To preserve the floor tiles, the staff carefully drilled holes at the joints. That saves on the cost of a new floor. Unfortunately, during the work it became apparent that there was a concrete floor directly beneath the tiled floor which had subsided significantly. This subsidence was not visible during the initial damage assessment and only came to light whilst the work was being carried out. This subsidence had created several hollow spaces between the two floors. As a result, URETEK was unable to complete the job straight away; they first had to discuss what the best solution would be.”
Stable floor
“After investigation, it turned out that FloorLift could provide a solution here too. Within a few weeks, the team returned and both floors were fully stabilised. The tiled floor in the showroom is now perfectly level again. I am very satisfied with URETEK’s approach and the result: the price and quality are excellent value for money!”
