Jaap van Merkerk, steward of the Protestant church in Driel
The extension to the Protestant church in Driel had started to show cracks and was beginning to subside slightly. Thanks to the URETEK DeepInjection® method, the subsoil was stabilised to prevent further problems.
The historic Protestant church in Driel dates back to the thirteenth century. In the 1960s, a consistory room was added as an extension. “This extension was not underpinned at the time,” explains church steward Jaap van Merkerk. “We noticed that cracks were appearing in the walls of the extension and that the consistory room was slowly beginning to subside.”
Best solution
URETEK was called in to stabilise the subsoil. Jaap van Merkerk: “In our view, this was the best solution to the problem, as it was a minimally invasive approach: it didn’t involve altering the building itself, for example through complex pile driving or the use of support piles. That would also have been somewhat more expensive.”
Quickly and meticulously
“URETEK’s work was carried out quickly – in half a day – and meticulously. The staff were clearly knowledgeable, worked efficiently and tidied everything up neatly afterwards. Everything has been stable ever since. We expect this to remain the case. It was a costly undertaking, but we are absolutely satisfied with the process and the result.”
