Property Services Manager at a fire station on a petrochemical site:

The concrete floor of a fire engine garage on a petrochemical site in Antwerp had subsided significantly in places. This had resulted in troublesome thresholds and uneven floor sections. The URETEK FloorLift® method provided the solution.

An insufficiently strong sub-base was likely the cause of the subsidence. Consequently, day-to-day operations within the fire station were being adversely affected. Arend Knufman, a technical adviser at URETEK, inspected the situation using an endoscope. This revealed that, in addition – particularly along the foundation beams – there was a gap of around 11 cm between the underside of the concrete floor and the sand bed beneath it. Action was therefore required.

Restored load-bearing capacity
The solution: the URETEK FloorLift® method. This involved filling the hollow spaces beneath the concrete floor, lifting the floor and restoring its load-bearing capacity. The building was ready for full use again immediately after the work was completed.

Safe execution
The client is satisfied with the result: “I would like to thank URETEK for the safe execution of the work and their overall attitude and cooperation. The necessary information was provided promptly and in accordance with our requirements, and the URETEK team cooperated excellently in what was not an easy environment.”
