2,400 m² of industrial flooring raised
Four floor sections at Mennens Belgium – a manufacturer of steel cables, hoisting and lifting equipment – had subsided significantly. In total, this covered around 2,400 m². A great job for URETEK, which applied the FloorLift® technique here.
Stijn Peelman, site manager at Mennens Belgium in Zwijndrecht, explains: “The floor slabs in two large industrial halls had subsided considerably, by as much as 14 cm. We’d been having problems with subsidence since 2008, but we waited until it stabilised. The subsidence hasn’t increased any further in recent years, so we called in URETEK to resolve the issues.”
Working efficiently
“During URETEK’s work, which lasted just over two weeks, most of our plant and machinery could remain in place and we only had to halt a small part of our production,” continues Stijn Peelman. “So the disruption wasn’t too bad. You could tell that the URETEK staff were highly skilled: they worked efficiently and professionally. I saw floor slabs measuring 20 to 30 metres being pushed upwards – that was spectacular to watch!”
Hollow space
“During the work, it became apparent that much more expansion resin was needed than had been estimated beforehand: there was probably a sizeable hollow space beneath the floor slabs that also needed to be filled. This meant the work took longer, but the result is impressive! The floorboards are perfectly level again and all the tension in them has disappeared. We’re delighted with it!”
