Sagging floor in Heerlen
The sand bed beneath the concrete floor of an industrial unit belonging to Ranpak B.V. in Heerlen – a manufacturer of paper packaging – had subsided in two places. As a result, the floor tilted under heavy loads. URETEK was called in to apply the FloorLift® method. The result? A beautifully level floor and a satisfied client.
“It involved around 40 m² of concrete floor,” explains Richard Jacobs of Ranpak. “When a forklift truck drove over it, the floor sections would move and the concrete slabs would tilt slightly. To prevent the slabs from breaking, we asked URETEK to restore the load-bearing capacity of the concrete floor and to lift the floor.”
Done in half a day
“We’d discussed beforehand with URETEK what was going to happen,” Richard Jacobs continues. “On the day of the work, we cleared the hall and the URETEK team were able to get straight to work. I thought it would take at least a day, but it went very quickly: they were finished in half a day! Because it went so quickly and smoothly, it caused us hardly any disruption to production.”
An excellent result
“The result is exactly as expected: the floor is perfectly level again and no longer moves when a forklift truck drives over it. The problem has been resolved neatly, effectively and quickly. The industrial hall is once again suitable for intensive use, without us having to worry about further damage. I’m incredibly satisfied!”
